Marie Gina Beaucejour
Mattapan

Marie Gina Beaucejour was an accountant in her native Haiti and thought that being a volunteer tax preparer at ABCD’s Mattapan Family Service Center was a good way to maintain her skills. “I chose to help in Mattapan because I knew they served many people from the Haitian community. “I want to improve the quality of life for people,” she said.
Marie represented her home country of Haiti while competing internationally as a ballroom dancer in the late 1990’s, and became a permanent resident of Boston in 2007. Along the way, she earned her bachelor’s from the University of Massachusetts and her master’s from Northeastern University. She lives in Waltham with her two foster children ages 15 and 13.
She speaks Haitian Creole and also provides translation services for tax clients. Marie said that she feels that she’s having a good impact on the community and is “happy to share her skills with others.”
“I was in shock when I received the call about the nomination,” Marie said. “People have always been the center of my life. I want to thank everyone at ABCD who felt that I was doing a good job.”
