Regina Fink
Allston/Brighton
As the Residence Services Coordinator for the Allston/Brighton Community Development Corporation (the Allston/Brighton CDC), Regina Fink assists the low-income families and individuals housed by the organization with everything from accessing rental and food assistance to signing up for government programs to connecting with community partners. In operation since 1980, the organization houses over 1,000 people living in over 500 apartments throughout Allston and Brighton. “People often just need encouragement,” says Fink. “It’s important to make sure they feel heard.”
Fink, who grew up in New Jersey and now lives in Somerville, loves being involved in the Greater Boston community and is a strong believer in the “housing first” strategy that serves as the basis for the work done by the Allston/Brighton CDC. “Working for an organization where keeping people housed is our number one priority has been really special,” says Fink.
A longtime partner of ABCD, the Allston/Brighton CDC frequently collaborates with ABCD’s Allston/Brighton Neighborhood Opportunity Center to distribute food to residents and connect them with food and rental assistance programs. Allston/Brighton CDC employees and volunteers also help out with delivering and distributing food at the Allston Mobile Food Pantry once a month. “Everything happens in a very neighbor-to-neighbor, word-of-mouth way,” Fink says. “That’s how we get things done.”
