Shayna Seymour, Emcee

Co-Anchor, WCVB’s Chronicle

Shayna Seymour, Emmy winning journalist, is Co-Anchor of WCVB’s award-winning nightly newsmagazine, Chronicle. She was previously a reporter, producer and Co-Anchor of WCVB’s weekend EyeOpener newscast.   You can catch Shayna filling in on the anchor desk of the weekday evening newscasts as well.

Since her arrival at the station in April 2006, Shayna has been nominated for several local Emmy Awards and was awarded an Emmy in 2015 as co-host of WCVB’s telecast of the annual “Holiday Lights” tree lighting event.  Shayna reports on a wide range of human interest and lifestyle stories. She has had the opportunity to interview many celebrities including Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres and Ginger Zee. Shayna was also the host of “Boston Idol,” a special Chronicle episode that featured several local American Idol hopefuls before the iconic show made its comeback on ABC.

In an effort to continuously serve the community, Shayna has emceed many events for local community and charitable organizations.  She has served as emcee for the annual Boston MLS Breakfast, the nation’s longest-running and Boston’s premiere event dedicated to honoring the legacy of Dr. King. In addition, she has served as a moderator at the annual Massachusetts Conference for Women, the largest women’s conference and leadership forum in the state.  Other organizations near and dear to Shayna’s heart include The Home For Little Wanderers and Dress for Success, to name a few.

Prior to joining WCVB, Shayna was anchor of the morning and noon newscasts as well as general assignment reporter at WGGB-TV, Springfield. While at this ABC affiliate, Shayna honed her reporting skills covering breaking news events, education and health issues. Shayna co-hosted the MDA Jerry Lewis Telethon for WGGB.

Shayna launched her broadcast career at WSTM-TV in Syracuse, NY as an intern.  Prior to that, she was employed in the corporate world.

A native of Amherst, Massachusetts, Shayna received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from Spelman College and Master of Science degree in Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University. Shayna has been recognized as a “stylish Bostonian” by the Boston Globe, Boston Common Magazine and the Improper Bostonian, even gracing the cover of the latter. She currently resides outside of Boston with her husband and two children.
