“Wanting to be a part of helping people, I feel like that’s God’s calling. We want people to advance and become self-sufficient. It’s a caring response to love your neighbors like brothers and sisters. There’s too much anger in the world. Reaching out is the first step, then help unconditionally. They may be people I never met before, but they’re God’s children and part of my family.”
Born and raised in Brighton, Patricia McShane, 67, has served as secretary for St. Columbkille Parish and St. Vincent de Paul Society for about 14 years. She assists her neighbors in need to access financial assistance and resources that can lead to stability.
Her volunteer work gained scholarships for special needs children to go to camp and numerous gift cards for families to shop for food and household needs.
Patricia has served on the advisory board for ABCD’s Allston/Brighton NOC for four years and was recently appointed to the ABCD Board of Directors with the intent to improve her community and embrace her neighbors.
