“I feel fortunate and truly blessed to work with people like Michael Bancewicz on the food pantry and with fundraising and the generosity of the Boston Society of the New Jerusalem, Church on the Hill, to have had the opportunity to be able to help others.”
Mary has proven to be a tireless champion for the West End and Beacon Hill communities through both her membership with her church (Boston Society of New Jerusalem, a.k.a. “Church on the Hill”) and her advocacy for the ABCD North End/West End Neighborhood Service Center.
Mary’s volunteer work serves a wide variety of clients including, by in no way limited to, the homeless, elderly, and those struggling with substance abuse and mental health issues. Making sure that no one is hungry has always been Mary’s passion, and she has been a major supporter of the West End Food Pantry, which serves nearly 100 unduplicated residents in need each month. Mary has been integral in securing an annual grant through her church for the
ABCD neighborhood centers, whose funds help support a food pantry.
For the past five years Mary, along with support from Rev. Kevin Baxter, has also helped take the lead in the ABCD North End/West End Neighborhood Service Center annual turkey drive, which has made it possible for many struggling families to enjoy a home-cooked Thanksgiving meal.
