Eileen Dern

Mystic Valley (Malden)

“I feel blessed to have a job that I love and honored to work with a team of committed and passionate individuals. One of my favorite quotes is “Hope is the dream of a soul awake.”  I believe that hope in action improves the lives of those we serve in the community.”

Eileen has dedicated her entire adult life to community-based nursing, serving young families, elders, adults and children. In her current role as the Director of Community Services for Melrose Wakefield Healthcare, Eileen and her team provide direct services to thousands of families.

Eileen’s staff also founded both the Mothers Helping Mothers Clothing Closet, which provides children’s clothing and nursery items to families, and the free Mobile Food Market in Malden, which provides food, health information and screening to hundreds of households each month.

The close partnership ABCD shares with Eileen and her team has resulted in numerous positive outcomes, including the annual Christmas Tree Distribution, which directly benefits nearly 100 families every year. In addition, Eileen’s team at Melrose Wakefield Healthcare has assisted

ABCD families in emergency situations, providing food and gift cards to households in crisis, and acting as an emergency site for the ABCD Malden Head Start program.
