“I aspire to be a leader who not only leads but inspires others to lead. I started a bilingual Asian American breast cancer survivors group so that those with the language skills can go into the community and talk about where the resources are. There’s a lot of misinformation out there. The more we talk about it, the more we can help ourselves.”
Chien-Chi Huang is recognized for her leadership as the founder of the Asian Breast Cancer Project and Executive Director of Asian Women for Health, a peer-led community based network dedicated to advancing Asian women’s health through education, advocacy and support.
With a mission to educate, advocate, and reciprocate, the initiative envisions a world where Asian women are well-informed, have access to culturally appropriate quality care and are inspired to live happy, healthy lives.
A breast cancer survivor herself, Chien-Chi has strived to bring support to other women dealing with breast cancer and other health issues. Her efforts helps those within the community learn about health and supportive resources available despite language or cultural barriers.
ABCD is inspired by the partnership with Chien-Chi and her health initiatives. Her leadership and ability to develop significant relationships within the community is an inspiration.
